Welcome to the gallery of Tanja Aumanen and Peter Hedman

Artist painter Tanja Aumanen och artist blacksmith Peter Hedman from Jakobstad, (Pietarsaari) Finland have been working together since 2004. They have had common exhibitions in Helsinki, Tampere and Stockholm, just to mention a few places.

Their common works, where the pure nature of the forged iron stands in contrast to the spontaneous use of colours, are thrilling. Their works are unprejudiced and truly uniqe. What they both have in common is the ability to catch the moment and the feeling. Their works often show a great sense of humour, they both amuse you and affect you.

Tanja was born in –67 and grew up in Sweden. She moved back to Jakobstad and got her artist education at the artschool in Nykarleby. She graduated –94, and completed an additional education in 2000. Tanja is a professional artist, and she has had over 40 exhibitions in Finland, Sweden and Lithuania. Many of her works have been sold to public institutions.

Peter was born –58 ad grew up in southern Finland, where he worked with renovations of old houses and teaching, before he took his metal artesan exam in –92. After this he has earned his living as a blacksmith and he has played a significant part in rescuing this almost extinct craft in his country. He has been very active in international blacksmithing projects, and participated in craft shows and exhibitions in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, and Hungary. Nowadays Peter has his smithy in Hällesjö, Sweden.
